This year, Fox & Wizard is proud to have delivered visual effects on two feature films selected for the 2025 Silwerskermfees—South Africa’s premier Afrikaans film festival. Hosted annually in Cape Town by kykNET, the festival champions original storytelling and highlights the best of Afrikaans-language cinema.
Both films were produced by the award-winning team at Nagvlug Films, known for their bold narratives and inventive filmmaking. We’re honoured to have collaborated with them on two standout titles:
Hen
A psychological thriller set on a remote South African farm, where a small family must keep the fires burning against the encroaching darkness.
A tense, atmospheric reflection on survival in isolation—and the fine line between life and death.
My f*k, Marelize!
Heidi is a strong-willed woman hiding her cancer diagnosis from her family. Her daughter, Marelize—a walking disaster—must learn to ride a bicycle to take up a job as an au pair in the Netherlands. How hard can it be?
A coming-of-age comedy based on the viral true story that captured the imagination of a nation.
Our work on both films focused on enhancing story through subtle, invisible VFX—from environmental augmentation to tension-driven visual treatments. We look forward to sharing more behind-the-scenes details in the weeks to come.
