Plan B - The Heist Behind the Heist

The story of a man with a military background, Ivan Malan, and his partner, Paul Schmidt, who plan and carry out a theft from a gang boss. The prize is the Flame Girl - a painting by the master painter Vermeer that is worth EUR30 million.

Directed by SAFTA winners Jozua Malherbe (Griekwastad) and Tertius Kapp (Gaia), and filmed across Cape Town and Stellenbosch, Plan B combines suspense, dark humour, and stylised visuals. Our team was tasked with grounding the narrative’s more elaborate set pieces in visual realism while elevating the overall aesthetic with invisible VFX work.

Fox & Wizard is proud to have contributed visual effects to Plan B, the gripping five-part Afrikaans crime series based on Deon Meyer’s acclaimed novel Wie Met Vuur Speel, the show follows a high-stakes heist involving a stolen Vermeer painting, organised crime, and a cast of unlikely allies with very personal stakes.
